IHBC members with benefits: York’s ‘Engaging Conservation’ discount

The University of York and ICOMOS-UK are organising a conference on ‘Engaging Conservation’, bringing together projects and organisations that are actively engaging and involving local people in taking care of their built heritage, and IHBC members can claim a reduced conference fee of £155.

The conference takes place 11–13 July 2014 and looks at how we can build better public understanding of what conservation is about and share the skills for many more people to take an active part.

Dr Gill Chitty, Director of Studies for Conservation at the University of York said ‘The Centre for Conservation Studies at York is pleased to be able to offer IHBC members a reduced rate for its biannual Conservation conference this year.  There’s an exciting programme of UK and international speakers just being finalised and a really interesting mix of conservation practitioners and researchers from different institutions will be there.  The conference is part of a series of Engaging Conservation linked events in 2014 which brings together partners working in locally-led and participative conservation practice and explores new pathways to building capacity We hope you can join us.’
